The Bright Lights of Broadway!

choir’s young alumni and brought them together to
help us evoke the magic and stardust of Broadway.
Sing and tap along to some of the greatest music ever
composed for the stage. The perfect Valentine’s outing
for every member of the family!

Melody Thomas, SopranoMelody Thomas

Melody Thomas graduated from Peterborough Collegiate as an Ontario Scholar and is currently completing her third year of an Honours Bachelor of Music Program at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music, where she is on full scholarship. She studies classical voice with mezzo-soprano Jo-Anne Bentley, and her previous teachers include Pamela Birrell, Leslie Fagan, and Patrick Raftery. Since being a student at the University of Toronto, Melody has been featured as a soloist in both the MacMillan Singers and the University of Toronto Women’s Chorus; as well, she performed Die Zauberflöte with the MacMillan Singers and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at Roy Thompson Hall.


In 2010, Melody received the Art Vogt Memorial Scholarship in Voice, was named the soprano section lead of the Ontario Youth Choir under Iwan Edwards, and joined the Distinguished Concert Singers International Choir, singing Eric Whitacre’s electronic opera Paradise Lost: Shadows and Wings under his direction at Carnegie Hall. In 2011, she is looking forward to focusing more on her solo career as she applies for competitions, art song institutes, and opera training programs. Melody is also looking forward to one of her first forays into Broadway music with the Peterborough Singers. Upon graduating, Melody hopes to become a performer, a teacher, a music therapist, or perhaps all three.

Anne Lukaszewicz, SopranoAnne Lukaszewicz

Anne Lukaszewicz is a classically trained soprano. She has studied opera for nine years. She is currently attending the University of Western Ontario where she is in her third year under the instruction of Sherry Steele. After graduation, Anne hopes to pursue a career in musical theatre. Some of her theatre credits include The Right Road to Pontypool (Fourth Line Theatre), Fiddler on the Roof (Hodel), Grease (Sandy), Follow that Rabbit (The Mad Hatter), and Oz (Dorothy). Anne has currently been studying both classical and musical theatre style singing and has performed several musical theatre studio recitals. Anne was a member of the Peterborough Singers for three years and received the opportunity to sing a solo of "On My Own" with Michael Burgess at a Singers' concert. Anne hopes to continue her studies in theatre and music and is excited to be a part of The Bright Lights of Broadway concert!





Catherine Nicholls, SopranoCatherine Nicholls

Catherine Nicholls is excited to rejoin the Peterborough Singers after four years away at the University Western of Ontario. There, she studies business at the Richard Ivey School of Business, and will join PriceWaterhouseCoopers in the fall to pursue her CA. Before Ivey, Catherine was enrolled in a Bachelor of Music Performance and enjoyed the performance opportunities and the chance to learn about her passion, music. Catherine continues to study voice with Torin Chiles, completing her Royal Conservatory of Music Grade Ten Voice certificate last June. She has also had the opportunity to travel with her singing, participating in an intensive vocal summer program in Malibu and in an opera in Central France. In addition to singing, she is involved in theatre: she sits on the executive of Theatre Western and helps to produce musicals and plays, all student acted, directed, and sometimes even written. After completing her CA she hopes to transition to the entertainment industry, to combine her passion for music and the stage with business skill.

Catherine sang with the Peterborough Singers for two years, as well as studying voice with Pam Birrell while in high school.



Hannah Lucas, Mezzo-SopranoHannah Lucas

Hannah Lucas is a twenty-one year old student at the University of Western Ontario. She is currently in her fourth and final year of the Honors Voice Performance program. Throughout her years of singing, she has been the recipient of many honours and awards. She has been a member of numerous choirs including, The Peterborough Singers, The Kawartha Treble Troupe, Chorale, and Les Choristes. Hannah has been a part of the UWOpera program at Western for the last three years. She was given the role of Chlorinda in scenes from La Cenerentola, performed at the UWOpera gala in 2009, and most recently played the role of Cinderella in Stephen Sondheim's Into The Woods. During Into The Woods she had the honour of working with musical theatre master David Rogers. She has performed many other musical theatre roles at the Lindsay Academy Theatre, and truly loves being on stage. She hopes to continue performing in the future, and she also hopes to be able to pass on her knowledge and love of performing to others.



Nathan Lucas, TenorNathan Lucas

Nathan Lucas graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2009 with a Bachelor of Musical Arts. He moved to Los Angeles to work as a music coordinator, which has involved fitting music to TV and film for programs such as Brothers & Sisters, Hung, Army Wives, and ABC Promo. In LA, Nathan joined a men’s choir that performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall, where he was honoured to have a solo. Nathan is very excited to be part of The Bright Lights of Broadway. The Peterborough Singers holds a special place in his heart.








Will Lamond, BassWill Lamond

Will Lamond is incredibly pleased to be back in Peterborough performing with the Singers! He graduated from Sheridan College's Music Theatre - Performance program in May. Will was very fortunate to be a part of a workshop of a new Canadian musical, Manitoba Music, at the end of January in Toronto. Other credits include Riff in West Side Story (Theatre St. John's); Oberon in Oberon, Pippin; Paul in Carnival; Mr. Faulkland in The Rivals (Theatre Sheridan); Butterflies Are Free (Highlands Summer Festival); The Last Green Hill, Schoolhouse (4th Line Theatre). He was also assistant director of Theatre Sheridan's recent production of The Drowsy Chaperone. Will is an avid singer/songwriter, and he would love you to buy his CD just as soon as it is recorded.
