Guest Artists – Venabrass and Syd Birrell on organ

What are your traditions during the Holiday Season? For many it includes attending Yuletide Cheer, Peterborough Singers’ annual celebration of all the best things about this special time of year: the lights, the candles, the  tree and decorations, the sound of the pipe organ and brass, singing some favourite carols, and most of all hearing an exceptional choir perform traditional favourites and beautiful new selections. If that’s not part of your Hanukkah or Christmas tradition, why not start a new one and find out why so many mark the beginning of the holidays with Yuletide Cheer by the Peterborough Singers and their regular guests, Venabrass?

Conductor’s Circle Gift
The choir is so grateful to the Dunkley family, whose gift to the Conductor’s Circle in memory of Ronald Garth Dunkley (1931–2023) will make it possible for Venabrass to appear as guest artists at the Singers’ annual Yuletide Cheer concert for the next five years. The gift is a fitting tribute, as Ron Dunkley was not only a highly regarded mathematician, who was named Member of the Order of Canada for his work in developing mathematics contests, but also a brass player,
performing with the Salvation Army Band, the Weston Silver Band, and the University of Waterloo Symphony.

The Conductor’s Circle is a way to support the Singers’ tradition of presenting some of Canada’s finest vocal soloists and instrumentalists. Your donation, gift in memory, or legacy gift of $500 or more can be directed towards the cost of hiring a specific guest artist.

Artistic Director Syd Birrell is happy to speak with you about how you would like to direct your support. Please contact singers@peterboroughsingers.com to find out more. We welcome you to join the Conductor’s Circle!
