BALLANTINE, CAROLS, AND BRASS
Renowned Canadian composer Len Ballantine will join the 100+ voices of the Peterborough Singers and the Canadian Staff Band of The Salvation Army in an exuberant presentation of Carols With Brass. The Peterborough concert is on Saturday, November 28, one week exactly before the band's annual Christmas With The Salvation Army concert at Roy Thomson Hall. Carols With Brass will feature the premier performance of Night of the Angel Song, a new choral work that the Singers commissioned from Len Ballantine.

A CHOIR OF DIRECTORS
Each Wednesday night from September to May, Syd Birrell faces a task that would be daunting for anyone who didn't have his exceptional musical talents---conducting a choir that is composed of other choral directors, music teachers, and professional musicians.
"There are at least half a dozen to a dozen veteran choral directors in The Peterborough Singers," Syd reports. And it would be hard to count the number of people who teach voice or piano or instrumental music.

MESSIAH TALENT FROM NEAR & FAR
The Peterborough Singers' annual performances of Handel's Messiah have always blended the talents of outstanding musicians and soloists --- from near and far. This year is no exception. Performing on December 14 is soprano Pamela Birrell. Born and raised in Peterborough, Pam has been "enriching the hearts of listeners" ever since. The next night, December 15, Leslie Fagan sings the soprano role. Leslie, whose voice has been called "nothing short of astonishing," had her official Carnegie Hall debut in December 2007, when she was invited to sing in performances of---you guessed it!--- Handel's Messiah.

THE SINGING CHIROPODISTS
Peter and Kathryn Ferguson are a great team. They live together, work together, and sing together --- with the Peterborough Singers. And through their business, the Ashburnham Foot and Ankle Clinic, they give back unstintingly to the Peterborough community. Our choir has benefited greatly from their generosity. Meet two of the Peterborough Singers' most giving sponsors and volunteers.
