Community Service and Outreach

The main goal of the Peterborough Singers is to enhance the community by doing what we do best — singing. Serving the community is dear to our hearts. We regularly participate in fundraisers and concerts for worthy causes. During the Christmas season, small groups of Singers visit nursing homes and seniors’ residences throughout the county.

Youth and Local Talent
: The choir gives young local talent the opportunity to perform with world-class soloists and musicians, and it supports and acknowledges upcoming singers and composers.

  • The Peterborough Singers–Girls’ Vocal Challenge Trophy is presented each year at the Peterborough Kiwanis Music Festival. In 2019, the winner was Mya Deschamps.

Musical Journeys
: The choir has taken excellent choral music to Canadian cities and abroad! In 2007, members of the Peterborough Singers took the best of sacred music to Winchester, UK. In July 2011, they sang services in England at York Minster for a week. In July 2017, the Singers took 52 members to York, England, to again sing at York Minster Cathedral for ten days. These musical journeys were so exciting for singers of all ages that we hope to travel again when time allows.
