Peterborough Singers to Honour Canadian Musical Legends

As part of its continuing support for Canadian artists, The Peterborough Singers will be performing songs made famous by Canadian musicians at its February concert.

Titled Canadian Legends, the concert will feature the work of Juno and Grammy award-winning artists such as Buffy Sainte-Marie, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, k.d. lang, Barenaked Ladies, Bruce Cockburn, Serena Ryder, and Michael Bublé. The event will be hosted by Megan Murphy and scripted by David Goyette and will tell the story of the journey of Canadian popular music from its infancy in the 1950’s to global recognition and acclaim.

Under the direction of Artistic Director Syd Birrell, the choir welcomes soloists Kate Suhr, who performed at our 2017 Canadian Women of Song concert, and Aadin Church, who made them dance in the aisles at our 2019 Soul II concert. The performers will again be backed by Peterborough’s finest guest musicians: Barry Haggarty, Andrew Affleck, Steve McCracken, Rob Phillips, Curtis Cronkwright, Kevin Cook, and Doug Sutherland.

The Peterborough Singers will also be holding the draw for its annual raffle at this concert. First prize for the raffle is an original painting of Del Crary Park by Peer Christensen. (Read about this painting and other of Peer’s art.) Second prize is a gift basket filled with goodies donated by local businesses.
