In a world longing for hope, music has the power to carry us from struggle into light. The Peterborough Singers closes the season with three extraordinary works that trace exactly that journey. Haydn’s majestic Lord Nelson Mass, written in a time of upheaval and nicknamed the “Mass for Troubled Times,” blazes with defiance and triumph. Ruth Watson Henderson’s From Darkness to Light, a luminous oratorio by one of Canada’s most celebrated choral composers, builds from shadow toward radiance. And Srul Irving Glick’s The Hour Has Come offers a stirring meditation on human kindness and renewal.
Performed with strings, trumpets, timpani, and organ, Darkness to Light is a powerful and uplifting finale to the season: a journey from uncertainty toward hope, resilience, and joy.
