Monday, December 13, 2021 | 7 pm | Emmanuel United Church

Guest Artists – Ian Sadler, Midori Marsh – soprano, Simona Genga – mezzo soprano, David Walsh – tenor, Alex Mathews – bass

First performed in Dublin, Ireland in April 1742, the Messiah premiered as an Easter oratorio, its three sections reflecting Christ’s birth, death, and resurrection. Nearly three hundred years later, Messiah has been transformed into a Christmas classic. Once again the Peterborough Singers, accompanied by brass, timpani, Ian Sadler at the organ, and some of Canada’s most exciting new and established soloists bring this beloved and magnificent work to life in the splendour of Emmanuel East United Church.

Please note: The December 13, 2021 presentation will be an abridged, 80-minute version of Messiah with no intermission. While all audience and choir members will be masked, soloists will remove their masks when singing. (Each soloist is fully vaccinated and will have a negative antigen test on the day of the concert.) As well, the first few rows of audience seating will not be available in order to  maximize safety for all.
