The Peterborough Singers is pleased to unveil its statement of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. In line with the choir’s longstanding principles, the Board has proudly announced a vision of inclusion, accessibility, and respect for all — a vision furthering the sense of true belonging at the heart of this musical community from the start.

Central to these values is celebration of and support for the many forms of diversity across our singers, audiences, volunteers, and artistic collaborators. We also recognize that inclusion is an ongoing practice of listening, learning, and growth, and that, through the shared experience of choral music, we have a responsibility to ensure all feel represented and valued.

To this end, we would like to make special mention that the Peterborough Singers has always been, and will continue to be, an organization that contains and welcomes members and audiences of a wide range of viewpoints and faiths — from the non-religious to the deeply devout. Although our choir exists in the long context of sacred music through parts of our lyrical content, performance spaces, and administrative locations, we take this opportunity to reaffirm ourselves as a secular, inclusive community where music-making is the joy that unites us all.
