The Peterborough Singers broke the silence with a spirited Yuletide Cheer concert on Saturday, November 27. It was the choir’s first performance since the “Canadian Legends” concert in February 2020, and you could feel the excitement! Approximately 70 choir members were joined by guest soloist Adam Bishop and the Venables brass ensemble. The audience was treated to a commissioned piece by Canadian composer Len Ballantine. “To Be Continued …” was first on the program, setting the stage beautifully for both traditional and contemporary holiday music to come.

Audience members expressed appreciation for the lengths taken to ensure health and safety,  and we were pleased to see our system for checking vaccination status, etc. went smoothly. Artistic Director Syd Birrell said how much he appreciated audience support over the many months the choir was not able to perform, and on behalf of the choir said how wonderful it is to sing for our audience again. All in all, it was a thrilling night!
